We recently talked with Valerie Fowler, PM for AutoSys, dSeries, and Workload Automation Agents, and Kaj Wierda, PM for Automic Automation to discuss why we added cloud automation integrations to Broadcom’s Automation Marketplace and what that means for Broadcom workload automation customers. Following is a summary of the discussion.
What Is Broadcom’s Automation Marketplace?
Broadcom’s Automation Marketplace offers plug-in extensions for our workload automation solutions, including Automic Automation, AutoSys, dSeries, ESP, and CA 7.
Historically, the marketplace was used for the Automic Automation solution as a way to highlight additional add-on capabilities that a user could download such as third-party application integrations. This served as a great place for customers to stay abreast of what was currently available as well as a point where they could download the software and give it a try.
We are rebranding and relaunching the Automic Marketplace as the Automation Marketplace to cover more of our workload automation solutions which include AutoSys, dSeries, ESP, and CA 7. We’ve added cloud processing integrations for all these products and for Automic. These integrations, also known as “plug-in extensions” when referenced with AutoSys, allow our customers to extend the reach of their enterprise workload automation solution.
Changes to the marketplace now make it easier for customers to browse and search for plug-in extensions for Automic, AutoSys, dSeries, ESP, and CA7 as they become available. There you can find information regarding the features that are supported by the extension and easily download the software with Broadcom Support credentials.
How Does the Automation Marketplace Benefit Broadcom Customers?
The Automation Marketplace’s plug-in extensions provide the capability to easily integrate with new cloud technologies and remove the need for customers to have to write new code themselves. These integrations were purpose-built to meet the needs of our customers as they started transitioning to the cloud and had new requirements.
One of the big benefits of the way we have created the new integrations is that customers can take advantage of these extensions with any supported release of their current Broadcom workload automation solution. There is no requirement to update to the latest release.
This makes it so easy to take this next step to extend their solution to the cloud and continue to benefit from all of the enterprise-grade workload automation features and functions they have today. We’ve talked quite a bit about this in the past and you can read more about the Benefits of Extending Automation to Cloud Processing here.
What Integrations Are Available in the Automation Marketplace?
We have a broad range of integrations that span across multiple cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure, and GCP), as well as ERP SaaS environments and cloud applications. We support a number of ETL solutions, including:
- Databricks
- Azure Data Factory
- Google Cloud Data Fusion
You can integrate with cloud storage solutions like Amazon S3 storage and workflow automation tools like Apache Airflow or Google Cloud Composer. And, you can easily keep your Oracle and SAP SaaS processing integrated with on-premise processing using these plug-in extensions.
Why Did Broadcom Relaunch the Automation Marketplace?
By expanding the Automation Marketplace to other workload automation solutions, we now have a one-stop shop for customers to access these extensions in a self-service way. We’ve been working on these new capabilities for the last 24 months, and we’ve been talking about them with our customers every chance we get.
Because we have been delivering these extensions rapidly, it's hard to keep customers up-to-date as to what we have available. Lately, as customers have become aware that we are creating these cloud integrations, they have been asking us where they can find the latest of what’s available. Everything can now be found in one location: the Automation Marketplace.
How Does Broadcom Support the Automation Marketplace?
To support our broad customer base’s individual requirements, we have created a new team called the Integration Factory whose sole purpose is to build cloud integrations across our workload automation solutions. This centralized team allows us to pass our economies of scale on to our customers.
Where Can Customers Find Documentation for the New Integrations?
All cloud integration documentation is linked directly from the Automation Marketplace. There is a Documentation tab within each listed integration that provides a direct link to the desired documentation.
Why Do Our Customers Still Need Broadcom Enterprise Automation?
A Broadcom enterprise workload solution offers feature-rich capabilities that work seamlessly with a tight cloud-native integration. It allows you to leverage the power of your enterprise solution as the orchestration manager, regardless of the platform. Our vast array of integrations allows you to do this.
We have been discussing this topic quite a bit of late with many of our customers. What we’d like our customers to understand is that, without exception, cloud-native scheduling tools offer very limited capabilities.
Despite this being the case, we recognize that there are good reasons for taking advantage of these alternate options as they are easily accessible to the application development community and are tightly integrated with cloud applications, services, and platforms.
How Can Broadcom Customers Stay Up to Date on New Cloud Automation Integrations?
The Automation Marketplace will be the go-to location for all existing capabilities, along with all new ones to come. You can find out about new cloud automation integrations as they become available in the Broadcom Enterprise Software community, as well as the Automation Newsletter, and Automation Office Hours.
Can I Discuss the Automation Marketplace or Other Questions With Broadcom?
If you have questions, Automic customers can reach the product management team at:
automic-pm.pdl@broadcom.com. For AutoSys and dSeries questions, contact Valerie Fowler at valerie.fowler@broadcom.com.
We have been prioritizing and building these cloud integrations, based on working directly with our customers and listening to their immediate needs. If your organization could benefit from an integration that is not yet available, don’t hesitate to reach out to us and let us know your requirements. We are regularly re-prioritizing our deliverables based on our customers’ needs.
