In the ever-evolving landscape of IT infrastructure, staying ahead of potential issues and ensuring optimal performance is crucial. Broadcom’s DX Unified Infrastructure Management (DX UIM) has been a trusted solution for comprehensive monitoring and management. With the release of DX UIM 23.4 Cumulative Update 2, users can expect a host of new features and improvements designed to enhance their monitoring capabilities. This update is a significant step forward in providing comprehensive observability and management capabilities for modern IT environments.
Real-world use cases
Organizations across various industries can benefit from the new features in DX UIM. The solution has been integrated with DX Operational Observability for enterprise-grade, full-stack observability. Here are a few of the industries that can benefit from the latest release:
- Financial services: Enhanced analytics and reporting can help financial institutions monitor transaction systems in real-time, ensuring compliance and enabling rapid detection of anomalies.
- Healthcare: Improved scalability allows healthcare providers to monitor extensive networks of medical devices and systems, ensuring uninterrupted patient care.
- Manufacturing: Expanded integration options enable manufacturers to connect DX UIM with their niche technology platforms, providing a comprehensive view of production line performance
Key Updates in DX UIM 23.4 Cumulative Update 2
- Persisting Always Show Menu option: DX UIM now retains your selection (ON/OFF) for the Always Show Menu option, even after logging out or when the session expires, ensuring a consistent user experience.
- Deploy DX UIM on Amazon Web Services (AWS) PaaS: With this release, you can host DX UIM on AWS, leveraging cloud services like load balancers and availability zones for high availability, enhancing scalability and reliability.
- Automatically clear alerts after service or server restart: The update introduces support for creating template profiles that automatically generate monitoring profiles based on provided information. If the service is unavailable during profile creation, the monitoring profile is created in the subsequent interval in which the service becomes available.
- Create device-specific profiles: You can now create a device profile even if a group profile exists on the device. (This is subject to the max_profile limit.) Device profiles have the highest precedence and can be created independently of group profiles.
- Alarm Viewer in Dashboard Designer supports group filtering: The Alarm Viewer now allows you to create dashboards with links to widgets that have custom group filters, enhancing the flexibility and specificity of your monitoring dashboards.
- User experience enhancements in Dashboard Designer for gauge and pie chart:
- Gauge enhancements:
- Introduction of Gauge v2 alongside the previous version, allowing for custom colours based on measured metrics.
- Support for both existing and new gauges to facilitate the transition to the new model.
- Pie chart enhancements:
- Introduction of Pie Chart v2 with enhanced view and accessibility.
- Ability to add context to launch reports for each segment and show/hide segments by clicking the legend.

- Superior performance and usability:
- Effortless interface management: Handle up to 30,000 records smoothly, without pages hanging.
- Quick interface tree operations: Expand/collapse up to 30K interfaces in under 10 seconds.
- Efficient metrics display: View utilization, errors, and discards percentages, with data refreshed every 30 seconds.
- Seamless editing: Edit up to 20,000 devices or interfaces without page loading issues.
- Enhanced tree, list, and card views:
- Pagination and sorting: Implemented for computer systems, ensuring smooth navigation and management.
- Smooth operations: No memory spikes when expanding/collapsing groups with 5k-10k devices.
- Highlighting nodes/leaves: Nodes are highlighted upon ADD/EDIT/DELETE operations and when clicked.
- Default root expansion: Root expands and highlights by default on first navigation.
- Improved API and alarm management:
- Optimized API calls: Reduced duplicate/unnecessary API calls, avoiding memory spikes and page flickers.
