Kubernetes has become a fixture in production for most IT Operations teams. The VMware “State of Kubernetes 2021 Report” shows a distinct shift towards a reliance on Kubernetes, with almost two thirds of respondents now saying they use it in production.
Companies with over 500 developers are driving this adoption, with 78% reporting that they run mostly- or all-containerized workloads in production.
One of Kubernetes’ strengths is running clusters on-premises and in the cloud, quickly moving containerized workloads between clusters and giving a significant boost to companies’ cloud migration efforts.
Respondents in the VMware report also cited several other benefits of using Kubernetes, including:
- 58% reported improved resource utilization
- 48% said it eased application upgrades and maintenance
- 39% reported it enabled their move to the cloud
- 33% said it allowed a hybrid model
- 28% identified Kubernetes reduced public cloud costs
Automation is a crucial foundation for IT Operations to deliver business-critical services, and the recent Automic Automation v21 release specifically supports our customers cloud journey.
Automic Automation Kubernetes Edition v21 (AAKE)
Automic Automation v21 continues the modernization of the automation engine architecture, providing a cloud-agnostic, cost-effective, and flexible Kubernetes deployment option. These features enable users to reduce the operational complexity associated with deploying, updating, and scaling Automic Automation instances so that they can optimize their cloud investments.
AAKE embraces a micro-services architecture, moving the core Automic Automation services to containers and changing how they configure, log, scale, and update. This native Kubernetes deployment option allows customers to leverage their existing investments in the cloud by deploying and managing Automic Automation in their Kubernetes clusters.
The creation of AAKE was made possible by working closely with several customers, specifically designed to meet the needs of enterprises in the move to the cloud while fully utilizing the benefits of Kubernetes.
