ESP dSeries Workload Automation version 25.0 is now available. This new release delivers some breakthrough enhancements that can fuel significant gains in visibility, security, and operational efficiency. Read on to see the highlights of this powerful new release and find out where to learn more.

    Unprecedented visibility and deeper insights

Understanding the health and status of your dSeries environment is paramount. With the release of version 25.0, dSeries introduces several features that put more information at your fingertips. Here are a few of the new and enhanced features that enable more proactive management and faster problem resolution:

    • Real-time agent monitoring and improved heartbeat monitoring. Gone are the days of manual checks. The new Ping Agent capability allows you to monitor agent health in real time, leveraging heartbeat-based ping requests to validate responsiveness instantly. This is complemented by improved agent heartbeat monitoring, which uses parallel processing for faster, more efficient status updates and richer insights into your agents’ availability. With these capabilities, administrators can immediately identify and address agent issues, minimizing operational delays.
    • Enhanced event and job search. Quickly locating specific events and jobs can be a game changer for troubleshooting and auditing. Version 25.0 offers a new FindEvent capability and improved Find Jobs features. These capabilities provide expanded filtering options, allowing you to search by a broader range of criteria, including event type, timestamp, job components like scripts and resources, and more. Both even allow for export to CSV for easier analysis and reporting. This capability significantly streamlines event and job management, ensuring you can pinpoint exactly what you need when you need it.
    • Application generation details and enhanced migration visibility. Traceability is key in complex environments. Now, when applications are generated, dSeries captures user and timestamp information, enhancing traceability and offering deeper operational insight. Furthermore, the migration console and logs have been updated to provide real-time progress during artifact and history data transfers, giving you better visibility into the migration process.

    Fortifying your security posture

Security isn't just a feature; it's a foundational element of trusted workload automation. dSeries 25.0 introduces these comprehensive security enhancements to protect your sensitive data and ensure compliance:

    • Secure server-client communication and HTTPS mode for embedded REST server. All communications across your dSeries environment—between servers, clients, and agents—now support robust SSL/TLS encryption. This helps ensure the secure transmission of sensitive data, reinforcing your compliance and security standards. Additionally, the embedded REST server can now operate in HTTPS mode, providing encrypted, secure communication for all REST clients.
    • Strengthened security and audit compliance with personal access tokens (PATs). This release elevates security by enforcing stronger password complexity, history, and expiry policies; as well as offering login failure monitoring. Audit logs are more comprehensive, now capturing the IP address of the source making the request, which vastly improves traceability. When interacting with REST APIs, CLI commands are now available to manage and configure PATs. This enables even more secure and efficient authentication.
    • Secure data transfers and REST API authentication update. Protecting data during transfers is crucial. The imexutil import/export tool now supports encrypted passwords, enhancing security when moving sensitive data. Also, basic authentication for REST APIs has been removed in favor of bearer token authentication, providing stronger security and more reliable server connectivity.

    Boosted operational efficiency and interoperability

Optimizing performance and providing greater flexibility are at the core of dSeries 25.0, enabling your teams to work more efficiently and integrate seamlessly with your broader IT ecosystem. Here are a few key new capabilities:

    • Export artifacts to CSV. Simplify your reporting and analysis workflows by exporting various artifact data—including custom views, jobs, events, and agent management information—directly from the Desktop Client to CSV files.
    • macOS support for Desktop Client. Mac users rejoice! The Desktop Client is now available for macOS, offering feature parity with its Windows counterpart. Now all users can enjoy a consistent and efficient user experience across platforms.
    • Java 17 certification. dSeries 25.0 officially supports Java 17, upgrading from Java 1.8. This offers a range of significant benefits, including enhanced performance and security, and it enables long-term support for your dSeries environment.
    • Network resiliency enhancements. This release minimizes downtime from network interruptions, delivering new enhancements that automatically detect and recover from communication disruptions between the server and such critical components as databases, LDAP, and agents. Affected operations are automatically retried, ensuring seamless recovery and greater uptime.
    • Expanded REST API capabilities. Gain greater automation flexibility with REST APIs that now support a broader set of both job-level and application-level operations. This empowers you to automate more workflows than ever before.
    • JobMap CLI with ignoreRunSchedules option. The JobMap CLI tool now includes an ignoreRunSchedules parameter, allowing you to generate job maps that list all jobs, regardless of their scheduled run times. This yields comprehensive insights that you can export to CSV.
    • Mandatory post-installation service configuration. For Linux and Windows installations, service configuration is now a required post-installation step. This helps ensure the server is correctly installed as a system service and starts according to your defined mode.

Now’s the time to start your journey to enhanced automation!

dSeries 25.0 is more than just an update; it's a significant leap forward in making workload automation more secure, visible, and efficient. These enhancements are designed to empower your teams, reduce operational overhead, and ensure your critical business processes run smoothly and securely.
