The Future of Network Configuration Management is Unified, Not Uncertain

Broadcom breathes new life into the trusted Voyence NCM, making it a core part of its unified observability platform

    4 min read

    Key Takeaways
    • See how Voyence NCM is now included in the Network Observability by Broadcom platform.
    • Adopt a unified observability platform to reduce the operational friction created by standalone tools.
    • Transform network operations from a reactive function into a strategic driver of business value.

Since VMware joined Broadcom, there’s been some speculation in the industry about the future of Voyence, VMware's trusted network configuration management (NCM) solution. We want to address that speculation directly and share some exciting news.

It is understandable that those who have followed the journey of Voyence would have questions. But where some see uncertainty, we see an opportunity for strategic evolution. That's why we're proud to announce that Broadcom is breathing new life into Voyence NCM. It is now an integral part of the industry-leading Network Observability by Broadcom platform, and a key component of our Fall 2025 release. This move directly counters any narrative of the solution’s obsolescence; we are not phasing out a proven technology. Instead, we are strategically enhancing the solution by integrating it into a broader, more powerful platform.

For customers who demand more than a collection of tools

Today's IT landscape is a complex mix of hybrid clouds, multi-vendor SD-WANs, and countless third-party services. This complexity creates blind spots and leaves teams vulnerable to outages from simple manual configuration errors—the number one source of preventable network downtime. In this environment, a collection of standalone point tools simply won’t cut it. Juggling disparate systems leads to fragmented data, a lack of clear visibility, and operational inefficiency.

This is precisely why we've integrated Voyence NCM's capabilities into our unified Network Observability by Broadcom platform. Broadcom offers a unified network monitoring and management platform capable of delivering connectivity at scale. By integrating configuration management with performance monitoring, it can automatically correlate a configuration change with a subsequent performance problem. For example, when latency spikes, the platform can immediately highlight a recent ACL update to a router or a change in a QoS policy as the likely root cause. This transforms troubleshooting from a manual, reactive hunt into an automated, data-driven investigation, drastically reducing mean time to resolution. Plus, it offers the critical insights that help teams prevent recurring issues.

By adding Voyence NCM to our network observability platform, we provide the automated control plane needed to enforce compliance, reduce risk, and dramatically accelerate recovery from failures. This is about more than just keeping the network running; it's about transforming network operations from a reactive function into a strategic driver of business value.

    Investing in what matters

This integration reflects Broadcom's broader strategy: We’re dedicated to unifying the product portfolio, focusing on core technologies, and delivering more value to our customers. We are committed to investing in the solutions that matter most, and the robust capabilities of Voyence are a key part of that commitment.

The road ahead isn't uncertain; it's a clear path toward a more integrated, automated, and observable network future. We are confident that by bringing Voyence NCM into our comprehensive Network Observability by Broadcom platform, we are providing our customers with the powerful, unified solution they need to succeed.
