Today’s IT teams are under constant pressure to address two critical challenges:
-
Boost operational velocity.
-
Adhere to increasingly strict security standards.
This isn’t an either-or proposition: Teams must meet both of these imperatives to safeguard their organizations’ futures.
Now, I am pleased to announce the release of AutoSys 24.2, which directly supports teams in addressing these challenges. This release enhances operational agility by modernizing the administrative experience. With this latest version of AutoSys, your teams can reduce administrative bottlenecks, minimize security risks, and accelerate incident resolution.
What are the new management features in AutoSys 24.2? Here is a closer look at how AutoSys 24.2 helps your organization excel.
Management without the command line
To adapt quickly to business needs, teams require immediate access to configuration tools. However, managing specific definitions historically required command-line access or the reliance on a central administrator, which often led to delays.
With AutoSys 24.2, we are moving the management of security profiles, templates, connection profiles, and resources to the intuitive web user interface. This shift democratizes operations and reduces administrative friction. By giving authorized users self-service access to capabilities for configuring and troubleshooting their environments, we are shortening the time-to-value for workflow adjustments and reducing the dependency on central administrators for routine tasks.
How does AutoSys 24.2 improve security and continuity?
As security protocols tighten, manual management of credentials has become a potential liability.
To support business continuity, we have introduced automated credential updates via REST APIs. This enhancement facilitates immediate updates when credentials change, effectively eliminating downtime caused by expired access.
Plus, we have simplified the certificate configuration process. The updated installer for both agents and the engine makes it straightforward to do the "out-of-the-box" setup for HTTPS certificates. This reduces the complexity required to configure secure communications.
Intelligent response to infrastructure issues
Reducing mean time to resolution (MTTR) is critical for maintaining uptime. In this release, we have introduced a direct help desk integration for non-job alarms. This allows you to bypass legacy monitoring tools. Instead, when infrastructure issues occur, the system can immediately and automatically open tickets that are enriched with logs and relevant data. This ensures your team has the rich context needed to resolve issues faster. Plus, it provides a consistent methodology for handling all forms of alerts—both job-related and infrastructure-related.
Delivering on customer requests
This release was designed with the practitioner in mind, and many enhancements are the direct result of feedback from customers.
Based on these requests, we have delivered:
-
Granular security controls. New cross-instance security classes are available that enforce separation between test and production environments. With this release, a new security class is also available for securing blobs. This helps teams protect access to help desk and email templates.
-
Enhanced diagnostics. The agent and scheduler now log messages and information, helping teams quickly diagnose certificate problems.
-
Automated installations. New silent installation capabilities are available for business agents, like SAP, Web Services and more. This simplifies upgrades and new implementations.
