What You Will Learn
This course is Part 4 of 4 in the Automic Automation v26 Standard Administration learning path.
This course covers the administration of functional security in Automic Automation version 26. Functional security protects the application's objects and functions, as opposed to encryption or database security. It begins with the Client model, in which users and objects belong to a single Client and Agents can be mapped to several Clients. It explains how to create and manage Users, including general, advanced, and restriction settings. These settings cover password policy, time zone, default Login object, login time window, parallel sessions, and minimum refresh interval. It also covers creating Users in Client zero and moving them to their target Client.
The course explains the two permission types. Authorizations control access to objects by type and name, with permissions such as read, write, execute, and delete, wildcards, group numbering, and the Not option. Privileges enable or disable access to interface elements and functions that are not tied to objects. These include explorer folders, administration functions, AWI perspectives, advanced editing, message visibility, and access control features. It covers the use of User Groups to define role-based security profiles, and the need for an object naming convention.
The final demonstration shows how to create and start a Client, create a User, assign privileges and authorizations, and create a User Group with common permissions.
What You Will Earn
Certification
Upon completion, you will receive:
- A certificate validating the course completion
- The Automic v26 Admin Func. Security Badge
Value: 400 points
Course Objectives
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Configure granular object-level Authorizations to permit or deny specific actions (Read, Write, Execute, Delete) using wildcards and conditional logic.
- Manage system-wide Privileges to control access to AWI perspectives, Explorer folders, and administrative features like the Centralized Agent Upgrade (CAU).
- Execute the complete setup of Clients, individual User profiles, and unified User Groups within a live production environment.
- Architect collective security policies that assign complex access rights to centralized User Groups instead of standalone users.
