At the 4th annual VSM Summit, we announced that Paul Lindo, Executive of Portfolio Planning & Delivery at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, as the deserving recipient of the inaugural ValueOps Wavemaker Award. The ValueOps Wavemaker Award honors the remarkable efforts of individuals within organizations that leverage Value Stream Management (VSM) to empower people, foster social well-being, and promote renewable practices.
The Wavemaker Award was inspired by the impactful customer stories shared at the 2023 VSM Summit, motivating Broadcom to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements. It serves to inspire other organizations with real-world improvements, both now and in the future.
With so many excellent examples to choose from, we knew determining the recipient of the first Wavemaker award would be a challenge. In the end, Paul Lindo’s work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center stood out not only for his commitment to value, but also the tremendous outcomes that have had a meaningful and lasting impact on the cancer center’s patients. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center embarked on an initiative to reorganize around value, people, and information flow. The pandemic accelerated the mission, increasing the urgency of transformation to meet the community's needs in new ways. A marquee example was their virtual program for young adult cancer patients, which identified, prioritized, and quickly delivered telemedicine and an online support community. The resulting digital transformation not only provided technology advancements but also had a profound impact on patients.
